20 Reasons to apply for Disney College Program (DCP)

1.  Best reason, you get free admission to all four parks, 24-7! You also get access to take friends and family!  Your friends or parents saving $300+ on tickets alone... that's a big deal.

2. You don't have to worry about cable, internet, water, electric bills! It is all included in the rent they take out of your check.

3. There is usually always OT (overtime) available. Sometimes you can pick up shifts in other parks where you don't even work, or work in your area over 40 hours a week and make that $$$$$$$$

4. Days off! On your days off you can go to the parks, Disney water parks for free (if its open and the dates are correct for you go to for free), go explore Florida if you have a car! I never wasted a day off sitting on my butt at my apartment, I was always doing something. Universal Studios, Busch Gardens, downtown Orlando, Cocoa Beach, Miami, there's so many beach's in driving distance! You get about 2-3 days off a week.

5.The Friends you make. You make friends with your co-workers, neighbors, people in your park, etc. I am still friends with people I made during both of my programs! You honestly make lifelong friends during this program and I hate to break it but you will be heartbroken the last day of your program. Spoiler alert- A LOT of people meet their future husband or wife during this program, not kidding.

 6. If your a shy person this program breaks you out of your shell.

7. You meet people from all over the world. Every day you talk to people from about 3-4 different countries. Not even just guest, I mean co-workers and neighbors you live with. So many amazing friends you make from other countries :)

8. The DCP parties/events. They do so many events for cast members including a graduation at the end of your program. They also do a FORMAL which feels like prom again, it's awesome.

9. Your roommates. I don't know how else to explain it. You will fight with them, hang out with them, maybe have some drama with them, party with them, but at the end of the day... they are your family while your away. Learn to love them and make the best of it.

10. If you don't bring your car, the DCP tram takes you to all the parks, and almost every single Disney World property destination, even if your not scheduled to work. Christmas time it is a blast to go look at every resort and how they fix it up for Christmas.

11. DISCOUNTS!!!! If your a Disney fan and love Disney Merchandise like I do... you will love Christmas time. Now for spring applications i'm not sure if you get a big discount like this. But during Christmas time you get 40% off on Merch. It's literally like Christmas. You also get 20% all the time on restaurants and other things like movie tickets at Disney Springs, and 20% off merch when its not Christmas time.

12. Break from school! Isn't that reason enough? You can take credits back to school with you because they have classes you can take that you get college credit for, but if you don't want to, then take a break! I did. Hey my second program, I did the program the semester AFTER I graduated, all you have to do is be enrolled when you apply.

13. If you want to do work for the Disney Company in the future, this is an amazing place to start. I have friends who have worked their way up because they started in DCP. All I say is, NETWORK, NETWORK, NETWORK! And call in the least amount possible into work.

14. The parties at Vista Way... haha. I don't want to get too much into this but lets just say there is ALWAYS something to do, just be a social butterfly, get out of your apartment! if they are asking what complex you want to live at, say VISTA WAY!

15. House of Blues! I did the program in 2010, and then again in 2014 and both times one of the funnest thing to do was go to House of Blues at Disney Springs. You get in free because you work at Disney and they usually have good specials, its just a blast trust me.

16. All your friends will be jealous, duh. Once they see your pictures and how much fun your having, they will be jealous. Moving away is a blessing. Orlando will feel like your second home.

17. If you get to work at Magic Kingdom you get to work the Christmas and Halloween parties! They are a blast to work. Also if you don't work at Magic Kingdom, you can still pick up shifts to work the parties.

18. Epcot! If you are old enough to drink, drinking around the world is a blast- trying to get through all 11 countries is a challenge. Also, just trying all the foods in different countries at Epcot, try to try it all. If you are there in the fall, check out Food and Wine Festival.

19. You get to be a part of making the magic around the parks. Your job is to make magic with guest and make their vacation the best vacation ever. When you do something special for a guest (it could be as little as walking them to a character or telling them the BEST spot to watch the parade) and you see their eyes light up, its amazing. You also get recognized for your work by leaders.

20. If you go during Christmas time (fall) you can watch the taping of the Disney's Christmas Day Parade on ABC. You can watch and be in the audience and see how it really goes down. Also its a prime time to see celebrities backstage and around the park.

10 best tips for your DisneyWORLD vacation!

  1. Download the "DISNEY EXPERINCE" app - make your reservations and book those fast passes before you even get there! Also it shows you showtimes, character meet & greet times, etc! Best to plan out each day so you can get the best out of it.
  2. Best shows/parades to see- PARADE: Festival of Fantasy (Magic Kingdom), FIREWORKS: Wishes (Magic Kingdom), SHOW: Fantasmic (Hollywood Studios), SHOW: Illuminations (Epcot) PARADE: Move it, Shake it (Magic Kingdom)
  3. Don't leave the park without trying DOLE WHIP (Magic Kingdom in AdventureLand) Mickey ice cream bar (duh!) you can find in any park, FRIES from Caseys on MainStreet USA (Magic Kingdom) or right by Thunder Mountain (Magic Kingdom), as far as ICE CREAM, the "Kitchen sink" at Beaches and Cream on Disneys Boardwalk is amazing! Go with a big group though ;)
  4. Pack light! You never know how many peices of merchandise you will be bringing home!! Definitely leave room in your suitcase!
  5. Get to the park EARLY! That means taking the tram over 30 minutes before parks open! If you want to bypass lines and or meet characters before there's a line and you miss your chance, or take pictures in front of the castle with no one in background, then go when park opens!!! Trust me you will be glad you did. There's nothing like strolling down Main Street at 9AM.
  6. Drink around the world at Epcot! Even if your with the little ones there is definitely things to do in each country. It's so fun to try a drink you've never tried in each country.
  7. Splurge on at least one meal! If you love Disney characters like me, I say do a Character dining (if you do breakfast or lunch it's not as pricy as Dinner). As for character dining I recommend Crystal Palace (Magic Kingdom) or Royal Table (Magic kingdom) or Chef Mickey (Contemporary Hotel). Or a dinner show like HOOP DE DOO REVUE  (Fort Wilderness Lodge hotel).
  8. Stay as late as you can at Magic Kingdom and take epic pictures on Main Street. Yes it's tiring, but taking an epic picture in the middle of Main Street with no one around is awesome. Also seeing a Kiss Goodnight on the castle at the end of the night is the best.
  9. Do not waste your fast passes on shows- to me they are pointless. All you have to do is show up 15-30 minutes early for fireworks/ parade/ shows to get a good spot. Use your fast passes on rides that have ridiculous lines! For instance, SPACE MOUNTAIN, TEST TRACK, MOUNT EVEREST, TOY STORY MANIA, SPLASH MOUNTAIN, SAFARI, etc. Trust me you will be glad you did.
  10. Take a photo in front of every single park monument! CASTLE, CHINESE THEATRE, TREE OF LIFE, EPCOT. Trust me you'll thank me later!
